"I was very grateful for the opportunity to attend EEB. I have been very nervous about applying to graduate school but this event removed some of the anxiety. I think Envision EEB for me meant understanding what life as a graduate student would look like and the steps it takes to get there."
Quote from Envision EEB participant

Applications for Envision EEB 2025 are closed. If you would like to be notified when applications open next year, fill out this survey.

To apply to the 2025 Envision EEB program, fill out this google form by May 2. In addition to demographic and academic background questions, you will be asked to write two short (~500 words) essays about your interest in graduate school, your research interests, and prior research experiences.

You will also be asked to provide the names of three EEB faculty members whose research interests you such that you would consider working with them in their labs. Please review the list of all EEB core faculty members here. We encourage you to reach out to the professors that interest you--introduce yourself and inquire whether they are taking in new graduate students in 2026. We know this can be intimidating, so here are some resources to help you with this step.

In 2025, we are modifying our program to make sure students can take full advantage of the preview weekend. Over the course of summer 2025, we will have several virtual meetings (about one per month) to help students get documents ready so they will be prepared for the preview weekend.  Attendance at these summer virtual meetings will be required to participate in the on-campus weekend in fall 2025.

Although the primary goal of the Envision EEB program is to give participants the information and tools necessary to become strong applicants to any graduate degree in the Natural Sciences, we especially welcome students interested in Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior programs at MSU.

**Important Note: All travel and boarding expenses will be covered by the program.**

All students who are currently living/studying in the contiguous United States or will be in the United States at the time of the event are invited to apply. This includes international students on a visa that extends through September 2024 as well as DACAmented individuals. Envision EEB is currently unable to offer invitations to students who will be outside of the United States during the event.
